Stephen Haen, age 72, passed away peacefully with family at his side on March 9, 2023 at St. Luke's South Hospital, in Overland Park, Kansas. After a brief but difficult battle with cancer.

Stephen was the youngest of seven, born to Ralph and Rose (Heiman) Haen on April 16, 1950 in Piqua, Kansas. Stephen's early school years were at St. Martin's in Piqua, Kansas and he was a graduate of Iola High's class of 1968. After high school he attended Allen County Community College. He served in the Army, stationed at Fort MacArthur in California, and was honorably discharged in 1972.

Stephen and Patty (Yohon) were united in marriage on May 29, 1971. This union was blessed with two daughters.

Steve was an outdoorsman who had a great love for fishing, hunting, and golfing and was known for his way with animals. Steve and Patty enjoyed traveling to visit wineries and wine tasting festivals. Their latest travels included a bus tour to Mackinac Island and a trip exploring Utah. Steve was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus council #6817.

Those who knew Steve best knew him as an honest and loyal friend who would do anything for you, and as a man who could fix just about anything. He was "Grandy" to his grandchildren, all of their friends and beyond. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he loved attending their activities.

Steve worked at Gates Rubber Company for 34 years. After retirement from Gates he worked at Cedarbrook Golf Course and most currently for Irrigation and Turf customizing golf carts.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Michael and Paul; sister Dorothy and in-laws Robert Yohon and Helen Yohon Habiger.

Steve is survived by his wife Patty of 51 years of the home; daughters, Becky (Darin) Spence of Wellington, Colorado and Greta (Jon) Fry of Hays, Kansas; grandchildren, McKenna (Jacob) Spence- Olson, Micah Spence, Braden Fry and Alexa Fry.
