Damaris and her twin sister Rena were the youngest in a family of seven children. Her brothers and sisters were: Nannie M. Scobee (1874-), Gertrude Scobee-Burner (1875-1932), Claude Strother Scobee (1878-1941), Sarah Scobee-McCormick (1883-), Elizabeth Ann Scobee-Slack (1886-), and Damaris' twin sister Rena Scobee-Allen (1889-).
On November 17, 1910, Damaris married James Jeffries Goodwin, born in Kentucky (1886-1937). James was the son of David Badger Goodwin (1859-1932), and Sarah Maude Jeffries (1862-1933), both born in Kentucky.
James and Dee settled in Louisville where James had earned a degree of Doctor of Pharmacy. They had one child, David, (1914-1986).

Va., formerly of Winchester, the widow of Dr. James Jeffries Goodwin, died Friday in Huntington. She was the sister of the late Sadie McCormick of Winchester. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Winchester Cemetery. Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
