When I created the memorials for John Gordon and his wife Sarah Jane Bogert Gordon, I placed them in the Saint Andrews Cemetery in Walden, New York, based on information in their obituaries.
However, the 1930 transcription of Graveyard Inscriptions of Orange County N. Y., by Gertrude A. Barber, Vol. 3, page 95, places the Gordons in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, about a mile down the road. They are listed in a plot with other Bogert family members.
John Gordon probably changed his mind about their burial arrangements while waiting to bury his wife in 1895, since she died in February and could not be interred immediately.
Since the funeral group took the trolley to the cemetery when John died in 1896, and the trolley ran right next to the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, I have moved the Gordon's memorials to that cemetery.
