William Hall Adair, 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, March 5, 2023 at his daughter's residence surrounded by his family.

William was born in Charleston, Illinois on July 19, 1940, son of George William and Audrey Helen (Hall) Adair. William was a U.S. Army veteran who served during Vietnam. He later worked as an Operations Research Analyst for the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense. In 1986, he moved to Brussels, Belgium where he supported the automation of military force planning for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). During this time, he continued his military service as an Army Reservist in Heidelberg, Germany, retiring at the rank of Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest son, George William Adair, II.

A private family graveside service will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented.
