Prudence Ann Knowles, the apparent eldest child of Thomas Knowles and probably his 2nd wife Sarah, b. June 17, 1845 (her 1891 widow's pension app.) at Davis County in the Iowa Territory. Her parent's marriage on Nov. 4, 1841 at Van Buren County in the Iowa Territory is recorded as Thomas "Nouels" to Sarah "Walltrap."

Davis County, Iowa adjoins the northern border of northeastern Missouri and was created from Van Buren County just prior to Prudence's birth. Iowa became a U.S. state Dec. 28, 1846 about 18 months after Prudence's birth.

Prudence d. Mar. 1, 1923 at Paden, OK and is buried next to her grandson, Albert Nimrod Stone, s. of Prudence's youngest son Albert Clyde Nimrod Stone.
