BOONE
Mr. J. A. Boone, father of Mrs. Cecil Brown, of this city, died Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital, in Louisville, where he passed under an operation several weeks ago in the hope of saving his life. Mr. Boone was born in Lacina, Indiana, in 1867, and was a descendant of Daniel Boone. He moved to Winchester many years ago, where he married Miss Lizzie Powell, who survives him with two daughters, Mrs. Cecil Brown, of Harrodsburg, and Miss Millie Boone, of Winchester. Mr. Boone was prominent in business and lodge circles of Winchester. He served as County Clerk, Master Commissioner and several other positions of public trust in his city. He was also an active member of the Central Baptist church there. His funeral was held at his residence Sunday afternoon, conducted by Dr. William Nevins, and the interment was in the cemetery in Winchester.
