Jacob "Paul" Everhart, Sr.

Jacob Paul Everhart Sr. entered the world on January 30, 1942, to Jacob Peter Everhart, Jr. and Kathleen (Conner) Everhart. He passed from this life on March 3, 2023, in Hobart, surrounded by his loving family, at age 81. He lived in Lone Wolf for most of his life and graduated from Lone Wolf High School in 1960. After graduation Paul joined the Oklahoma National Guard. On April 9, 1965, Paul married Sandra (Griffin) at the Lone Wolf church of Christ and they made their home in Lone Wolf. To this union two children were born: Jacob Paul Jr and Paula Shawn.

Paul attended college at Tarrant County Jr. College, Western Oklahoma State College, and Central State University. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Central State in 1982 and then completed his master's degree in criminal justice in 1984. In 2020 Paul & Sandy moved to Hobart, OK.

He always took pride in working hard, leading by example and had strong Christian values. Throughout his life he was an Ironworker, employed at Planters Coop, General Dynamics, Highland Supply, and Brown & Hulen. He taught life skills at Oklahoma State Reformatory for over 32 years. He took college courses while supervising inmates. He taught GED classes at Work Release Centers and was an adjunct instructor at WOSC. He served on the Lone Wolf School Board for 15 years and served as an Oklahoma State School Board Association Representative for 7 years. He was an active member of the church of Christ in Lone Wolf and was baptized there. He was a spiritual leader for his family. He was passionate about giving blood and he enjoyed fishing, farming, Red Tornado Football, Sooners and the 49ers.

He was preceded in death by his parents J.P. "Mutt" & Kathleen Everhart, in-laws Harold & Yvonne Griffin; son-in-law Cody Combs; great grandson Draigen Turman; his sister Lila Everhart; sister-in-law Virginia Everhart; brothers-in-law, Leon Graumann and Randy Ballweber.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of almost 58 years, Sandy, of the home, son, Jacob Paul Everhart Jr. and wife Marie; daughter, Paula Combs Colberg and husband Shane. He leaves a legacy of grandchildren: Lance, Haley, Zach, C.J., Jake, Jon and great grandchildren: Landon, Layton, Lawson, Sasha, Luke and Blakely, his sister Shirley Graumann, brother Johnny Everhart, in laws: Gary and Letitia Stockton, Ron and Carey Griffin, Joe and Debbie Griffin, Tom & Veneita Chisholm and Warren & Melissa Hulbert. Paul is also survived by a host of other close relatives and friends. His nieces and nephews were extra special to him.

Services for Paul are scheduled for Wednesday, March 8, 2023, 2:00 P.M., at the Lone Wolf Church of Christ with Ronald Griffin officiating and John Werhan assisting. Interment will follow at Lone Wolf Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites and DOC Honor Guard as well.

Public viewing for Paul will begin Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., with family present to receive friends between the hours of 5:00 P.M. & 7:00 P.M. at Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home, located at 1400 West Main, Lone Wolf, 580-846-9018.

Memorials for Paul can be made to the Lone Wolf Church of Christ.
