BARBARA LARSEN OBITUARY
October 10, 1916 - May 10, 2015 Barbara D. Larsen died peacefully May 10 in her home in Los Angeles. She was 98. She was born in Honolulu in 1916 and attended Punahou School and Vassar College. She gave up an acting career in New York to marry set designer Johannes Larsen, and, when he returned from World War II service, they moved to Los Angeles, where he worked at Paramount Studios. Later, Barbara earned an MSW at UCLA and found a job in adoption placement. After her husband's death in 2001, she published her book on human behavior, The Human Dilemma, a work that reflected how her early optimistic socialism had evolved to pragmatic pessimism. She is survived by two children Pamela and Peter Larsen, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
