OLD CITIZEN PASSES AWAY.
Mr. Geo Herring, octogenarian of Upshur county Texas whose home for many years has been in Graceton, died at the home of his nephew A.A. Rutledge, at Bettie Texas, Sunday at the advanced age 82 years with the infirmities incident to old age. He came to Texas many years ago from Alabama, settled near Graceton, later residing in Bettie was well known and greatly esteemed in the county and his death will be deeply deplored. He leaves a large number of relatives and friends to mourn his demise. The funeral took place Monday afternoon and his remains were laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery, a large number of friends and relatives turning out to pay last sad earthy tribute to his Memory
George Thomas Herron served in the Civil War. He joined at the age of 18. CSA.

His wife Jane Rebecca Davis West Herron died In 1931 in Turkey, Hall co. Texas, Dreamland in an unmarked grave next to her gr. granddaughters Violet and Carol Chambers
