Mrs. Sophia Adeline Bowlby.
Mrs. Sophia Adeline Bowlby died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Pitman, of Hillsboro, Or., on November 13 after an illness of several months. She was born in Sycamore, DeKalk County, Illinois, on April 23, 1849, and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Adams, crossed the plains to Oregon in 1852. Mrs. Bowlby was a student at Tualatin Academy and it was there that she met Theodore Bowlby, her husband. They settled on a claim in South Tualatin, where they lived up until three years ago. She is survived by her mother, a brother, a sister and ten children Wilson Bowlby, Rupert, Idaho; Mrs. Emily Pitman, Hillsboro; Theodore Bowlby, Buhl, Idaho; Randolph and Frederick, Hillsboro; George, Rupert, Idaho; Mrs. Lois Bohlson, Caldwell, Idaho, and Mrs. Stella Stevens, Acequia, Idaho.
