Funeral service for Mose B. Fried, retired farmer and stockman who died Sunday morning, Jan 24,1960 was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Dallas Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Claud Hughes, Pastor, and Fred Embry officiating. Burial, in Concord Cemetery at Ink was directed by the Beasley=Wood Funeral Home. The Pallbearers all grandsons of Mr. Fried, were Ronald Luttrell, Jack Fried, Donald Fried, Glenn Luttrell, Bruce Fried, Jerry and Dwayne Hamby. Mr. Fried was born Dec 3,1875, near Holly Springs,Ark. He lived in Polk County all his life and served as a Justice of the Peace for over 50 years. He was a member of the Big Fork School Board for a number of years and was a member of the Primative Baptist Church. Mr. Fried's first wife, Mrs. Arties Fried, preceaded him in death June 27,1929. Later he was married to Mrs. Alice Beck, Aug 5,1944, at Big Fork. Mr. Fried retired and moved to Mena from Big Fork about 15 years ago. As "The Old Mossback Farmer" he was a frequent contributer of articles to The Star. Beside his wife Mr. Fried is survived by four sons, Sam W. Fried, Springfield, Ore., Dr. David Fried, Bethany, Okla., Ben Fried, Issaquah, Wash., John Fried, Oklahoma City, Okla., four daughters, Mrs. Bess Tiller, Jones, Okla., Mrs. Beulah Luttrell, Oklahoma City,Okla., Mrs. Margaret Bates, Springfield, Ore., Mrs. Eula Hamby, Big Fork, Ark., one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Brewer, Gustine, Calif., five step-sons, Jess Beck, Mena; Charles Beck, Laytonville, Calif., Earl Beck, Black Springs, Ark., Elvis Beck, Mena,Ark., Glen Beck, El Monte, Calif., three step- daughters, Mrs. Etta West, Norman, Ark., Mrs. Gletta Skinner and Mrs. Dorothy Easley, Mena. Mr. Fried is also survived by 19 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
