Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Hazel, Big Mom, was born in Hope. Ark., on July 24, 1912, to Isaac and Nancy Sanders. As a child, she and her family moved to North Texas, where she would become a longtime resident of Fort Worth. In 1934, she married Herman Willis Kennedy Sr. and raised their children, Mary Ann and Herman Jr., together. Hazel was a member of North Fort Worth Baptist Church, where she was married and her favorite activity was her Sunday school class.
Our Big Mom was a very loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great- grandmother. She loved watching the red birds outside her kitchen window, her kitties, flowers, jewelry and "The Price Is Right." Big Mom was an amazing cook; she made everyone look forward to a holiday. Hazel was very proud of all her family and would never missed a chance to brag about them. She was an amazing, strong woman who everyone adored and loved. Big Mom will be greatly missed.
