She was born Aug. 9, 1917, in a log house near Lamar, Okla., the daughter of Robert Jefferson Upchurch and Ethel Mae (Norris) Upchurch.
On April 6, 1940, in Springdale, Ark., she married James "Jim" Barton Atkinson and to this union two children were born.
Jim passed away on Sept. 8, 1970.
Later she married Clyde Ryan, who is deceased.
She was then married to William Forbragd, who died Jan. 17, 1997.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, two sisters, three brothers and one nephew.
She is survived by one son, Robert Louis Atkinson and his wife, Judy, Neosho; one daughter, Betty Jean England and her husband, Teddy, Neosho; one brother, Howard Upchurch, Holdenville, Okla.; one sister, Norma Summy and her husband, Tommy, Holdenville; four grandchildren, Cheryl Mitchell and her husband, David; Pamela Collins; Rachel Dudley and her husband, Jason and Sarah Pharris and her husband, Keith and six great- grandchildren, Spencer and Dalton Mitchell, Paige and Dylan Collins, Kruise Pharris and Braden Dudley.
Lora grew up and received her education in Oklahoma. After she married Jim Atkinson in 1940, they moved to Washburn, where they owned Atkinson's General Store and operated it until 1956.
From 1960 until 1975 she operated a beauty shop in Washburn. She resided in Cassville prior to moving to Neosho to be closer to her children.
She was a member of Cassville First Baptist Church; Celeste Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star for 55 years, being Past Worthy Matron, serving in 1956 and 1957. She originally joined the Washburn Chapter on May 21, 1953.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008, in Washburn Prairie Cemetery, Washburn.
Arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
Reverend James Weaver conducted the services.
