Marlys Ruth Ewers, 85, of Sparta and formerly of Richland Center, died Monday, February 20, 2023, at Morrow Home in Sparta. She was born on February 17, 1938, Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Stanley Julius Anderson and Josephine Anna Margaret Oslund. Marlys graduated from Osseo High School in 1956 and attended North Central Bible College.
Marlys was married to Byron Krans for 13 years and later married Edwin Ewers for 27 years until his passing in 2013. She worked at the Richland Medical Center for 33 years. Marlys was very much a people person. She loved her time with the Wednesday lunch group. Marlys enjoyed sewing, collecting cows, camping, boating, snowmobiling, ice skating, roller skating, downhill skiing, and water skiing. Marlys was a member of the Assembly of God and Ash Creek United Methodist church and taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline's, Women's Auxiliary, Snowmobile club, FMCA, and Badger Chapter.
Marlys is survived by her children: Steven (Trudy) Krans of Howe, IN, Susan (Alan) Leis of Sparta, WI; stepchildren: Randall (Lisa) Ewers of Jacksonville, FL, Cheri Ewers of Lone Rock, WI; 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, siblings: Dennis (Lois) Anderson, JoAnn (Alvin) Adair, Jim (Linda) Anderson
Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel in Richland Center. Burial will follow in the Richland Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 11:00m until the time of service at 1:00pm. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
