Amasa Hathaway was born in 1829 in NY. His father was also Amasa Hathaway b. abt 1800. Amasa Jr. lived in WI and enlisted Feb. 6, 1865 in the Union. He mustered out on Dec. 30, 1865 and fought a battle at Mound City, Kansas on April 20, 1865. He was married to Mary Jane Crabtree in 1865
