THOMASVILLE, N.C. | Mrs. Eloise Marie Carter, 74, a resident of Pine Street, passed away early Monday, May 3, 2004, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Born on Nov. 3, 1929 in Horry County, S.C., to Ollie Leo and Bettie O'Quinn Blackburn, she made her home in Thomasville since 1971, coming from Horry County. She was a 1947 Honors graduate of Loris High School. She retired from Dillard Plastics and had previously been employed as a bookkeeper at both Graham Brothers in Loris, S.C., and at Jerry Cox Company in Conway, S.C. She was an active member of New Grace Baptist Church where she served as assistant church clerk, was a member of the Adult Bible Class, and was a church choir member as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Jennie Horn. In Sept. of 1961, she married Leonard O. Carter, who also preceded her in death on June 12, 2000.

Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Rabon and her husband, Ernest W. of Myrtle Beach, and Trisha Whitaker and her husband, Chuck of Conway; two sons, Junior Carter and his wife, Linda of Loris and Lenny Carter and his wife, Tara of Thomasville; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Thursday in New Grace Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Mason and the Rev. Hoyt Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the J. C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.
