Laura Baker Garthe Shannon went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 92. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Bidwell and Denise Fleck, as well as her four grandchildren, Jenna and Kathryn Fleck and Craig and Cheryl Bidwell, as well as her three great grandchildren.

Laura was born Aug 19, 1930 in El Paso, TX. She graduated El Monte High School, in Southern CA. She went to work with the Southern Pacific railroad as a secretary and timekeeper. She met the love of her life, Harry Baker, during a Youth Group Bible Study. They married and he went on to become a Lt Col in the National Guard. Laura delighted in being active in her church and the community where, one of her fondest memories, was when she served as President of the Ebell Society.

Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, socializing with her fellow church members, and travelling. She travelled all throughout Europe and the Far East. Her favorite pasttime though, was church and being together with family and friends.

Laura was loved and admired by all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers she would like donations be sent to the Shriner's Children Hospital.
