Pattye Jean "Patsy" McWherter, 90, of Union City passed away 3:58 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Patsy was born February 27, 1932, in Obion County, daughter of the late Leonard Wade and Leiron Edith (Braden) Stovall. She married Earl Lee McWherter December 24, 1950. He preceded her in death June 15, 1985. Patsy had been employed at the former Reelfoot Packing Company, the former Shatz Department Store, had been a child care provider in her home and had been employed at Children's Corner Daycare. Patsy was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and attended Second Baptist Church in Union City. She enjoyed flowers and spending time with children.

She is survived by one daughter, Beverly McLendon of Union City; two sons, David McWherter (Debbie) of Rives and Joe McWherter of Southaven, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Cheryl Thomason (Dwight) of Union City, Chad McWherter of Nashville and Stacey Hailey of Union City; and three great grandchildren, Ashton Hailey, Makaily Beth Thomason and Brayden Hailey all of Union City.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Godman; one brother, Gordon Stovall; and two great grandchildren, Katlin Nicole and John Collyn.
