_____________

Armande E. Abaray, 88, passed peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2020, after a long and full life. Armande was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, John P. Abaray.

Born in Fall River, daughter of the late George and Leontine (Michaud) Menard, she had resided in New Bedford for most of her life. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

Armande had worked as a salesperson in local department stores, specifically Zayres and Ames. She previously worked at Knapp Shoe and Aerovox.

Armande was first and foremost a dedicated mother and grandmother. She especially loved her role as Memere and spending time with her family. Her easy laugh will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, embroidery, arts and crafts, puzzles and reading. Her family extends their gratitude to her "second family" the girls at Atria Fairhaven for all of the patience, kindness and compassion they provided through these past years. A special thanks to Alden Court and South Coast Hospice for the overall comfort that was provided.

She is survived by her children, John "Johnny" Abaray, Jr. and his wife Sue of Acushnet, Blaine Abaray and his wife Donna of Fairhaven, twins Rachelle St. Pierre and her husband Claude of Westport, Regina Araujo and her husband Silvino of Fall River, and Mark Abaray and his companion Cheryl of Brockton; her grandchildren; her great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Raymond Maynard and George E. Menard, Jr. and her granddaughter, Lindsey Abaray Frederick.
