Emma, as she was called, was the daughter of Henry Barrick & Martha Bragg.

She married Samuel Edward "Edward" Simonton on 5 Sep 1872 in Douglas Co., IL.

Her husband's obituary in the 14 Jul 1927 Tuscola Journal includes: "He was united in marriage to Emma Barracks [sic] of Camargo 55 years ago and they made their home in and around that village until they removed to Tuscola some 25 years ago." The obituary indicates they moved to Terre Haute two years previously to live with a daughter. "To Mr. and Mrs. Simonton were born eight children, all of them living. .. John, of Villa Grove; Mrs. Bertha Ansbury, Macomb; Earl of Tuscola; Roy and Albert, Urbana; Mrs. Grace Raybould and Mrs. Lucile Wilson, both of Phelps, Wis., and Mrs. Ruth Brady of Terre Haute, Ind."

Emma's obituary in the 30 Apr 1936 Tuscola Journal includes that she was born near Camargo to Henry and Martha Barricks and married Samuel Edward Simonton. "To this union eleven children were born, seven of whom still survive. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Fannie King of Camargo, two brothers, John Barrick of Camargo, and Ollie of Albany, Oregon; also several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren."
