LOUISA J COMMONS
Louisa J. Commons was the infant daughter of Enos & Delilah Commons.

I'm not sure if she was born in 1840 or 1841. I found a census record for 1840 for Enos Commons who was living in Jefferson, Miami County, Indiana. It lists Enos as Head of Household, with one free white female 15 to 19, one free white female under 5 and one free white male under 5. So the female under 5 could either be Louisa or they had another sister who died young too?

Her cemetery stone is very worn and hard to read. I think it says she died at the age of 2 months and 13 days. If this is correct she was born on 5/27/1841, in Mercer County. It could read 1 year, 2 months and 13 days. If this is correct she would be the female under 5 in the 1840 census and would have been born 5/27/1840 in Indiana. Louisa died 8/12/1841 and is buried in the Mannon Cemetery.

Also buried in the Mannon Cemetery is her mother Delilah who died at the young age of 32 in 1852. Also a brother John Commons and sister Martha Commons, twins who died at birth. Louisa, Martha & John were all born after the family moved to Mercer County.

After the death of their mother Delilah, Enos remarried, Widow Margaret (Myers) Clark the second marriage for both. About 1871 Louisa's father Enos, & brothers Nathan and Jasper Commons (& their families) all went to Harvey County, Kansas, along with the Prouty's & other Mercer County families.
