John married Marion Phelan (1887-1969) daughter of Isaac G. Phelan (1852-1934) and Sarah E. Marr (1857-1942) on June 18, 1914, at Revere, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Marion came from Springhill, Nova Scotia, Canada on November 9, 1905.
