DARLING BABY AT REST - HENRY EUGENE BARKS

Wednesday evening at 6:30 o'clock, the spirit of Little Master Henry Eugene Barks passed from its
earthly tabernacle to Heaven, where it nestled safely in the arms of Jesus.

On June 23rd, 1918, the bright baby came to bless the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Barks. For over a year this big and handsome boy had made happy this ideal home. Father, mother and sister, Jennie Frances were devoted in their attention to him. Some two weeks ago he commenced to suffer with teething; then later bowel trouble set in.

He was not really considered dangerous until last Saturday, when his grandmother, Mrs. Jennie Barks,
of Canyon, and other relatives were called to his bedside. Tenderly, prayerfully, and constantly did loving
hands watch and minister to the little dear. But alas, on this fatal July 9th, he was called from labor and to
be at peace with God in Heaven.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the family home. Rev. J. R. Sharp,
a friend of the family, and formerly pastor of the Presbyterian church in Tulia, conducted the funeral services. After the services the dear little body was tenderly laid to rest in the Tulia cemetery. There, midst beautiful flowers, in the hills of Rose Hill cemetery, he awaits the resurrection call of the righteous.

Oh, how hard for we mortals to understand the workings of Nature. As parents we gladly give and give for our children. As has been said, "The most real things are the unseen things." Mother's love and the love of a dear little baby surpass the understanding of human beings. Oh, how we love to bask in the sunshineo of such love as these. But hanging on a thread is life. And in spite of what we think is our most watchful care, they are called away from us. But as surely as God reigns, just so surely are Christian mothers and sweet babies awaiting us in Heaven. And oh, how blessed is the thought that we can meet them in that Eternal Home. Up there will be no more parting nor sorrow.

Weep not too deep, dear parents and loved ones. God is good, and Jesus Christ is our Savior. He is the protector and preserver. During your remaining days on earth, you have the blessed memory of the dear acts of Henry Eugene. Later you can and will have his blessed companionship.

With sincere hearts do we extend sympathy to you sorrowing ones.
