ROSETO Anna Marie Ruggiero, 103, of Roseto, PA passed away Friday, February 10th, at her residence. Anna was born in Roseto, PA on September 27, 1919, a daughter of the late Fausto and Mary (Goffredo) Ruggiero. She was a 1937 graduate of Bangor High School, and a 1941 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and received her B.S. in Business Education. She later studied art at East Stroudsburg University and also under the tutelage of the late Robert Doney of Pen Argyl, PA.

She enjoyed painting and her artwork was shown in the Bangor Public Library, East Stroudsburg University, and other public institutions. Anna taught art at Pius X High School and was a substitute teacher for Bangor Area School District. Throughout her life, she was always active in the family business "Ruggiero's Market". She was the author of "The Roseto Cuisine Cookbook", Historical Novels "The Rosetans" and "The Slate Belt Sampler" and had several recipes published in the magazine "Eating Light".

Anna served as the secretary of the "Roseto Jubilee Committee", and a member of the Slate Belt Heritage Center. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Roseto, PA. She served as the secretary of the building fund drive for Our Lady Mt. Carmel School and Pius X High School during the 1940s and the 1950s.

Anna is survived by 13 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces, great-nephews, and godchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Louis, Michael, and Joseph Ruggiero, and one niece.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, February 15th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Third and Garibaldi Aves., Roseto, PA. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, February 14th, and 9:30 to 10:30 AM on February 15th both at Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc, 314 S. First Street, Bangor, PA. Burial will be held in Our Lady Mt. Carmel New Catholic Cemetery, Roseto PA.
