Death of Mr. W. W. Cloud

Pioneer and Highly Esteemed Citizen of Brazos County--An Ex-Confederate Veteran

At 7:52 o'clock, Mr. W. W. Clolud died at his home in the Kurten communtity after an illness of several months. Mr. Cloud was a native of Georgia and was seventy years and two months old. He was a resident of Brazos county more than forty years and a good substantial citizen and successful farmer. He was a member of the Reliance Baptist church and a devout christian man. He also served with distinction in the civil war and bore the marks of that great conflict to the grave, having been wounded on more than one occasion.
Mr Cloud was twice married and leaves a wife and several children. The latter are Mrs. M. B. Easters, Mrs. Jim Tobias, Mrs. J. E. Lloyd, Messrs. W. E. Cloud and J. C. Cloud, Mrs. Mat Sheppard, Miss Emma Cloud and J. T. Cloud. He also leaves a brother, J. W. Cloud and two sisters, Mrs. Holland and Mrs. W. L. Edge.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Tryon cemetery. Rev. J. M. Bullock of this city conducted the services.

Elizabeth (Smith) English, Fought in the Confederacy, entered as Private April 29, 1861, injured at Spotsylvania, Virginia, May 12, 1864, sent home on wounded furlough August 32, 1864, moved with family to Brazos County, TX about 4 years after the Civil War ended.
