Mrs. Anna Mary Eisch, seventy-eight, was found dead in the kitchen of her home at 121 Pleasure Road at 4 p.m. yesterday by Miss Barbara Armstrong, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Dudley Armstrong, of Abbeville, who was canvassing for Welfare funds. The victim's pet dog prevented anyone from touching the body until a State Motor Policeman arrived. Dr. Harold K. Hogg, deputy coroner, said Miss Armstrong stopped at the house to solicit funds. When no one answered at the front door, she went to the rear and saw Mrs. Eisch lying on the kitchen floor. Miss Armstrong summoned a neighbor, Mrs. August J. Lerbscher, Jr., and together they entered the house, but the dog prevented them from going to her until State Motor Policeman Gerhard arrived. Dr. Frank Alleman was summoned and pronounced the victim dead. According to the deputy coroner, the woman apparently was stricken with a heart attack while ironing. Mrs. Eisch, widow of Paul Eisch, was born in Airville, York county, a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Stokes. She resided in this city most of her life and was a member of the Mount Joy Sixteeners association. She is survived by the following children, Catherine, wife of Fred Sherbahn, and Robert, both at home; Mrs. Pauline Kelley and Margaret, wife of Paul B. Bowers, both of this city, and seven grandchildren. She was the last of her family. (Lancaster New Era - Nov 16, 1939)
