James Ambrose Barker, 77, Odessa, Mo., died May 31, 1991, at Trinity Lutheran Hospital.

He was born in Lexington, Mo., and lived in Odessa most of his life.

Mr. Barker was a farmer until he retired. Earlier he worked at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. He was a member and deacon of First Christian Church, Odessa. He was a member of the Missouri Farmers Association and was a representative for the Missouri Farmers Assembly. He served on the Barker Cemetery Association board and the Walnut Row Rural School board.

Survivors include his wife, Jessie R. Barker of the home; a son, William Eugene Barker, Odessa; three daughters, Doris Ann Hemme and Shirley Lou Elling of Concordia, Mo., and Karla Sue Barklage, Odessa; a sister, Cecil Radcliffe, Olathe; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church; burial in Greenton Cemetery, Odessa.
