Thomas Hamilton Hoyt, 69, known to his friends and family as "Tom", passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at his home in Lostant.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Lostant.
Born July 10, 1953 in Chicago to the late Arthur H. and Pearl M. (Klinkey) Hoyt. Tom was in the graduating class of 1972 at Joliet West High School in Joliet. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Sea Bee from 1973-1977.
While working for the Illinois Department of Corrections, he met and married the love of his life, Rose Stolte on February 11, 1984. Tom retired from the Department of Corrections after 30 years of service. In retirement, he pursued his passion for blacksmithing and demonstrations of his craft. He belonged to the LaSalle County Historical Society (life member); Americana Legion Auxiliary, Post 237 (life member); Bishop Hill Heritage Association; and the Blacksmith Club.
He was loved and will be missed by the community in which he lived.
