Dorothy Stemple Mateer, 88, of Hambleton, died Feb. 22, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.

She was born Jan. 14, 1914 in William, a daughter of the late Fairfax Cline and Amanda Dumire Stemple. Her husband, Tobias Snyder Mateer preceded her in death in 1981.

Surviving are a son, James T. Mateer of Bowie, MD; a brother Roswell C. Stemple of Suitland, Md.; a sister Helen S. Peck, of Bowie, and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Mateer was a homemaker. She was a member of the Parsons Presbyterian Church and the Tucker County Historical Society.

At the request of the deceased her body was cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 2, at 11:00 am, at the Parsons Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Bower officiating. Interment will follow in the McNeely Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Tucker county Historical Society, Box 13, Hambleton, WV 26269 or the Parsons Presbyterian Church, Parsons, WV 26287.
