Homer Whitten was married to Esther Whitten for 54 years. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, entering at age 17. He served for four years. Homer was a self-employed roofer and also worked in several pubs and clubs. He enjoyed playing Tonk with his buddies, fishing and spending time with family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed walking every day in parking lots picking up change.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Esther Whitten; brothers, George, Billy, Earl, Wayne and Bobby; one sister, Doris Reeves; and one infant granddaughter, Brandy Chrisley.
He is survived by one brother, James "Nookie" Whitten; four sisters, Nellie Gainey, Vivian Shull (Carrol Shull), Betty Morris (Randy Morris), and Christin Thelen; daughters, Sherry Hawk (Paul Hawk), Devie Morris (Kenny Morris), Tina Stanley (Jim Stanley), Wanda Bradley (Glen Bradley), and Wendy Shwarz; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
