Nancy Percival Raby died peacefully on Monday, November 21st in Bellevue Washington at the age of 82.

Nancy was born on April 27, 1940, in Albemarle, North Carolina to Spencer and Genevieve Percival. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky where she received her bachelor's degree in Social Work. She was on the Dean's List every semester and received many scholastic honors and scholarships, including membership in Phi Beta Kappa. Her school and community activities and volunteering are too numerous to list. Nancy worked tirelessly as a social worker advocating for children who suffered trauma and abuse in the states of California, Washington, Montana, and Georgia.

In 1962, Nancy moved across the country to California to pursue her master's in Social Work at the University of California, Berkeley. It was at UC Berkeley where she met her first husband, Dr. Keith Chapman. Nancy and Keith married and had two daughters, Cathy and Karen, in addition to her stepchildren Kenny, Greg, and Patty.

She later met and married the love of her life, William "Bill" Joseph Raby. They were devoted to each other for over 35 years, spending their later years dividing their time between a home in Sun City, Arizona, and their cabin "Hadisway" near Mount Rainier.

Nancy was an extraordinary host and grandmother. She would play games with her grandchildren for hours when they visited and spend countless hours taking her grandchildren to the clubhouse to swim, play the putt-putt course, and visit the nearby zoo.

She went non-stop, showing the energy of a person half her age, cooking her casseroles, baking her family's traditional Christmas cupcakes and fudge, and creating memorable occasions around the dinner table. Like her father and sister, Nancy was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and if given the opportunity, she likely would have been the champion on both Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Raby, and her sister Margaret Patat (Peggy). She is survived by her children Cathy, Karen (Cory), Ron (Sue), Cindy (Bobby), and Howard (Cameon); and their children, Pamela, Joshua, Katie, Matthew, Carrie, Brandy, Will, Jessica, Bobby, Craig, Aaron; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A shelter service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on April 10th at 11:15 am. Following the service there will be a gathering for family and friends at the home of her daughter, Karen Stevens.
