Based on his mention in newspaper articles shown below, Andrew Dickson died between 1893 and 1898. The obituary of his son, Joseph, who died in Montana, states, "His body will be brought to Walhalla, his birthplace, and laid to rest beside his parents in the family plot, generally known as the Neville burying ground, two miles west of Walhalla." Therefore, I am placing him in this cemetery.

The will of Andrew's father was proved in court in Pendleton Dist, SC, on 3 Aug 1829. He was survived by 8 children by his first wife, his 2nd wife, Mary "Polly" Bowen, and his 3 "youngest children" by her named as Andrew, Linney and David Dickson. Also mentioned is Allsberry Mills, the "youngest child" of his "youngest daughter," Linney Dickson Mills. The older surviving children were James Dickson, William Dickson, Simpson Dickson, Robertson/Robert Dickson, Joseph Dickson, Peggy King, Abby Cobb and Mary Hughes.

Andrew married Sarah Neal Neville about 1844. They were the parents of Mary Verlina, William A, Nannie Elizabeth, John E, Joseph Gresham, James Andrew, Charles Jewett, Sarah Margaret and Rosa Neal Dickson.

After Sarah's death, he married Frances Alexander. She was born about 1839 and died on 5 May 1892 as reported in:
The Pickens Sentinel - 12 May 1892, Thur, p 3
Mrs Frances A Dickson, wife of Capt Andrew Dickson, died at their home in Midway, on Thursday, May 5th. She was a daughter of Wm K Alexander of this county.

The General Assembly met on Wednesday night last, the 11th. The members were punctual and both the Senate and House went immediately to work.

I have received petitions from the mountainous portions of Oconee asking an exemption of the operations of the general stock law for that portion of the county. In furtherance of their wishes I have introduced a bill for this purpose. I cannot tell what will be its fate. I think that if possible that portion of the county ought to be exempt. The bill proposes to run a fence from McKinney's Ford on Keowee to Tomasee Knob, thence around the base of the mountains to and by ANDREW DICKSON'S, Maxwell's and Huntsinger's to the old fence at Pitts'....

Capt ANDREW DICKSON and family will in a few days, move from Walhalla to Atlanta, Ga. Capt Dickson is one of our oldest and most respected citizens, and this change of residence from a quiet place like Walhalla to a bustling and noisy city like Atlanta will, we imagine, be a strange experience for the Captain. We wish for him and his contentment and prosperity and the formation of many new ties of friendship and Love.
