Amber Marie Israel
February 28, 1988 - February 2, 2023

Amber Marie Israel, 34, of Charlestown, MD, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, February 2, 2023. Born in Baltimore, MD, on February 28, 1988, she was the daughter of the late Larry E. Israel and Leah Aro Jackson and her husband Arthur Jackson, Jr.

The three great loves in Amber's life were her children, and she cherished spending time with them more than anything. Regardless of circumstances or distance between them, they were her inspiration to overcome challenges and struggles and were the twinkling bright stars in her universe.

In addition to her mother and her husband, Amber is survived by her children, Anthony Bryan, Jr., Jasmine Hampton, and Skylar Overton-Ward; husband, Michael R. Overton, Jr.; siblings, Nicholas Frederick (Nikki), Jessica Mallory, Daniel Israel (Ascher), and Carrie Jackson (Sincere); grandmothers, Sandy Aro and Bernice Jackson; grandfather, Bubby Frederick; aunts and uncles, James Israel (Jennifer), Larry Jackson (Bonnie), Debbie Settlemyre, Cindy Edwards (Randy), Kathleen Miller (Tommy), and Sharon Jackson; and numerous nieces nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her father, Amber was preceded in death recently by sister, Kelly Marie Jackson on 11/15/2022; grandfathers, Edward S Aro Jr., and Arthur "Snook" Jackson; grandmother, Linda Frederick; uncles, Brian "Hurricane" Aro, and David Settlemyre; and aunt, Bonny Jackson.

She loved writing, drawing, spending time with friends and family, going to the beach, and being in the water, whether pool, creek, or ocean. Amber always looked and found something good regardless of the circumstances.

In Amber's school years, she was extremely active, competitive, adventurous, and determined. Always willing to try everything and every sport, she participated in music, arts and crafts, Girl Scouts, playing the clarinet, piano, guitar, running track, hurdles, and long jumps, where she earned medals. Amber studied Taekwondo and was a brown belt earning her way to black belt, competing in tournaments.

Amber received awards in a few writing competitions. She was cast in an independent film and modeled for Fashion Bug. Always willing to help others, she volunteered with various organizations. She loved animals and would rescue anything she could catch and bring home. Amber loved to see new sites, explore historical locations and our yearly family beach vacations.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. to 3p.m., Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Calvert Grange, 2357 Telegraph Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 West Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
