Football and basketball player. Miles played high school football at Erasmus Hall in Brooklyn before going on to Washington & Lee University. There he played college football and basketball and was a member of the track team. He starred in football from 1911 to 1914 as a tackle and was named to Walter Camp's All-American team. Playing at center, he served as captain of the basketball team beginning in 1914 after scoring a team-best 148 points the previous year. After his time at Washington & Lee, he attempted to join Fordham University's football team in 1915, but was ruled ineligible due to already playing four years of college football. He joined the Rockville Centre Basketball team in 1915 and played for the Paterson Crescents in the Interstate Basketball League in 1916. After serving in World War I, Miles played for the Cleveland Athletic Club football team in 1919 and then the Akron Pros in the inaugural year of the American Professional Football Association (later renamed the National Football League) in 1920. The Pros won the league's first championship that season. He also played for Jimmy Jemail's All-Star Collegians team in 1921. Miles later worked at the Hercules Powder Company.
