Charles W. Achong, Jr. "Chuck", 67, of Spring Lake Heights, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, with his family by his side, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Chuck was born and raised in Jersey City where he graduated from Snyder High School and New Jersey City University. Chuck was an Army veteran who served during Vietnam War from 1971 until 1973. He joined the Jersey City Fire Department in 1979 and retired as a Captain in 2010 after 31 years of dedicated service. Chuck was an avid golfer and skier and loved to travel along with his wife, Rosemary, and daughter, Kristine. He was a member of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh of the Jersey Shore, Manasquan Elks, American Legion, Neptune and the VFW, Manasquan.

Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Rita Achong, and his sister, Dorothy Achong. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rosemary (nee Vogt) Achong of Spring Lake Heights and his daughter, Kristine Rose Achong of Wall. Chuck is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and loving in-laws.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, April 2, 2018, from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am on Tuesday April 3, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Church, Avon by the Sea, NJ. Entombment will follow at St. Anne Mausoleum, Wall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans Organization, PO Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250 or online at www.dav.org.
