Wesley M. Braden, age 91, went to be with The Lord Jesus on February 3, 2023, joining Barbara, his wife of 56 years. Wes leaves behind son Kent, daughter Kimberly (Moore), and son-in-law, Curtis Moore. Wes was a cherished "Granddad" to three: Caden, Kyra, & Chase. He was eagerly anticipating adding a granddaughter-in-law, Grace, later this month.

Wes was born November 18, 1931 to W.E. "Speedy" & Adella Braden. He has a younger brother, Bart. After graduation from Cameron High School, Wes served in the Air Force for 4 years. The GI Bill provided the opportunity to earn a B.A., Master's in Educational Administration and substantial quantities of other post-graduate hours. He briefly attended law school at The University of Texas in Austin until the money ran out. This fortuitous turn allowed him to shine in his calling as an educator. He served in various teaching, counseling, and administrative roles in Austin ISD for over 30 years. He positively influenced the lives of hundreds of high school students and colleagues.

Wes volunteered and participated in countless organizations (Lions Club, Retired Teachers Association, Grand Jury deliberations, Faith in Action Caregivers, Bullock Museum). He struggled saying "no" when asked to fill leadership positions. He and Barbara joined Anderson Mill Baptist Church in 1975. They shared a passion for U.T. athletic events, live theater and travel. An ideal day constituted shooting under par on the golf course then catching a Round Rock Express baseball game.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to his faithful caregiver, Ruth, and staff at Sodalis ALF in Temple during this last season.

A visitation and reception will be held February 7, 2023, 430-730 pm, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 5416 Parkcrest Dr., Austin, TX 78731. A private interment will occur at a later date. Wes will rest next to his beloved wife in the Ben Arnold Cemetery.
