Death of Henry B. Woodbridge
The remains of Henry B. Woodbridge, who died in St. Paul, Minn., Feb. 6th, were brought to Vergennes on Wednesday last week and lay in state in St. Paul's until the following day at eleven o'clock a.m., when the burial service was performed by the Rev. M.L. Woolsey. G.F.O. Kimball had charge of the ceremonies and the bearers were E.G. Norton, S.W. Hindes, T. Neville and W.J. Strong. The remains were placed in the receiving vault in Prospect cemetery, interment to be made later in the family lot.
Deceased was the son of the Hon. F.E. Woodbridge of Vergennes, and was born May 23, 1862, being in the 41st year of his life. He graduated from Williams college in the class of 1885 and immediately entered upon the work of journalism, being connected, at different times, with some of the most prominent papers in Chicago and New York, such as the Chicago Tribune and New York Herald. He held the positions of city editor of the Chicago Daily TImes for some time.
Surviving members of the family are F.A. Woodbridge of Quebec, Mrs. Walter Scranton of East Orange N.J., Mrs. R.D. McFadon of Chicago. Among those from out of town who paid the last tribute to his memory were Dr. E. W. Shipman of Richmond Hill, N.Y., Joseph Scranton of East Orange, N.J., as well as the relatives aforementioned, who were all present at the funeral.
