Robert Lewis Howard Jr.
Passed away on February 21, 2022 at the age of 38 years old. He was born on August 17, 1983 to COL Robert L Howard and Rona Redfern Howard in Houston Texas.
He was a beloved friend, soldier, and father. He is survived by three sisters, two sons, and their mother.

He was a 2002 graduate of Dos Palos High School and was a member of the football team. He attended Cal Poly at San Obispo but was drawn to military service after 9/11 and his father's exploits as a Green Beret and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient during the Vietnam War.
Robert enlisted in the United States Army as an Airborne Infantryman. As a paratrooper, he was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team in Vicenza, Italy. While there he deployed to the eastern border of Afghanistan in Nuristan Province. He and members of his company conducted operations out of Combat Outpost Keating during one of the deadliest periods of the conflict. He received several awards for his service including the Combat Infantry Badge. He applied and was selected for Special Forces training to become a Green Beret but left the service in 2012 to be with his wife and two sons. Robert was an attentive and proud father to his sons. During this period, he worked as a mechanic for John Deere/Thomason Tractor of Firebaugh.

In 2016, Robert suffered an accident that left him wheel-chair bound. Despite this obstacle, He never lost his curiosity, resilience, wry humor, or sense of adventure. In January of 2022, made an assisted parachute jump over the California coast that brought tears of joy to his eyes. A month later, he died of heart failure while visiting an old army buddy in Oklahoma.

Memorial services will be held at Fierro Family Funeral Home in Dos Palos, CA, on Saturday, April 9.
