Eleanor Margaret Freeman returned to her heavenly home on June 17, 2022. She was born on September 17, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Matilda and Adolf Grohman, ten siblings, and her son Joseph Freeman. Eleanor (our "Mom", "Meam", and "G-Meam") was a joyful presence in the lives of all who loved her during her 88 years of life.
Eleanor is survived by her husband of 65 years and true love. They married on June 1, 1957.
She is survived by one son and his wife, another daughter-in-law (by her late son Joseph); six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Eleanor is also survived by her two sisters, two sisters-in-law, and a brother-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by countless friends whose lives she touched with her relentless faith and bright spirit.
Eleanor graduated from Southwest Texas University with her Master's in Special Education in 1975. She treasured her work with children and the elderly whom she helped in her career as a speech pathologist.
She loved to travel, exploring the beauty of the world in many adventures with her husband during their marriage. She generously shared her time and joy with people she loved, two cancer support groups she started, as well as the CDA Court at St. Matthews. Eleanor was a long-time member of Saint Matthew's Catholic Church where she was active until her final days.
