Mrs. Mary Alford died at the home of her son, A. C. Alford, on June 20th at 8:30 p.m. aged 74 years. She was quite well until the Sunday before she died when she took suddenly sick and only lived until Tuesday morning. She was the mother of 12 children, seven of whom she goes to meet in that haven of rest from which none ever return. Five children are living, four of whom reside in this place, the fifth, Dr. J. W. Alford, is in Maxville, KS. The funeral services were conducted by Elder W. Ingels in the Christian church of which she was an active member, after which the remains were given their last resting place in Leanna Cemetery. We extend to the mourning relatives our sincere sympathy in their hour of trial.
