Donald "Don" Abrell, 86, of Freedom, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 at his home. Don was born in Owen County, Indiana on January 1, 1937 to Charles L. Abrell and Grace Loraine (Fulk) Abrell. Don was a 1955 graduate of Freedom High School and worked on his farm for his whole life. Don married the love of his life, Shirley Zenor Abrell on August 12, 1955. He drove a school bus for Freedom School and then Spencer for almost 40 years. Don was a member of the Freedom Methodist Church.
Don is survived by his wife, Shirley, children, Cleve (Lori) Abrell, Lee Ann (Tracy) Deckard, Lisa (David) Vaughn, Adam (Cassie) Abrell, Lora (Rodney) Evans, Lexie (Jason) Reszka, grandchildren, Eli Deckard, Levi Deckard, Amber Page, Logan Vaughn, Landon Vaughn, Autumn Blankenship, Carter Abrell, Carson Abrell, Eden Slaughter, Laine Clark, Ethan Abrel, Corbin Abrell, Holden Abrell, Addison Farmer, Arie Evans, Emery Reszka, Anah Reszka, 22 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Kathi Abrell, and many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Eric Abrell, grandson, Gage Abrell, brother, Clint Abrell, sister-in-law, Louise Abrell.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, February 6, 2023 at the West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 North Montgomery Street, Spencer. Pastor Eric Kersey will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Bethel Cemetery in Arney.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Sunday, February 5, and again 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM, on Monday, all at the funeral home.
