Glenn Edward Newson, 87, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 29, 2021. He will forever be remembered as a devoted father, loving grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he knew.
Glenn was born on July 13, 1933 in Olathe, Kansas to Joseph Firl and Ethel Irene (Rist) Newson. He attended and graduated from John P. St. John Memorial High School. He was a FireFighter and Captain for the Consolidated Johnson County District 2 Fire Station in Prairie Village, Kansas. He also served as a Volunteer FireFighter for the city of Olathe.
He was a great man of God who led people to Christ, taught Sunday School class for many years and a wealth of other jobs in the church including being a deacon for The Church of God of Prophecy. He leaves a great legacy through his children, grandchildren and greats. Being a man of God and being an example of Christ was his greatest desire.
He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and watching western movies on television. Glenn enjoyed spending time with his family. Nothing gave him more pleasure in life than the times he spent with his grandchildren. He was considered a "History Buff'' and teaching them all that he knew about history was his passion. He will be sadly missed.
