At his residence, No. 848 South Spring street, at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 9, of injuries in a runaway, Ezra Whipple, aged 73 years. The deceased was born in Indiana and has resided in Springfield for the past thirty-eight years. He leaves to mourn his wife and three sons, Henry, Merrit, and Otto Whipple, and two brothers, Henry Whipple and I. C. Whipple, both of this city. He was married to Susan Wile, in March 1845, and has been in the state for the past sixty years.
Mr. Whipple was driving a horse about a week ago, and in some manner fell from the wagon. He was badly injured at that time, and has been confined to his bed ever since. IL State Register, Springfield, IL, 4-10-1898
