American Civil War veteran. Enlisted at age 25 on August 27, 1864, at Auburn, NY. Mustered in as a private with Company L of the 15th New York Engineers on August 27, 1864, to serve one year. Mustered out with company on June 13, 1865, at Fort Barry, Virginia.

"Seneca Falls - John Christy, in the 58h year of his ago, died Thursday afternoon at his
home in this village. He served in the late war as a member of the 15th N.Y. Engineer Corps. Deceased has resided in Seneca Falls during the past 40 years. He was greatly respected and esteemed by all who knew him. He was an active member of Father Matthew T. A. B. Society, the C. M. B. A. and the Iron Moulder's Union. A wife and six
children survive him. The funeral took place from St. Patrick's church Saturday
