Elena Chairez, 83, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Rosary: 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Greenwood Chapel.
Elena was born May 25, 1924, in Lockhart. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and was active in the church choir and prayer group. One of her favorite moments was spending time with her family and with the North Side Senior Citizen Group.
Her spirituality guided us in wisdom, her faith taught us to pray, her love for God and God's love for her pointed to heaven at her last moments. Thank you God for your divine mercy and thank you, Mom. "Jesus I trust in you."
Elena was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Chairez Sr., and her daughter, Charlene Chairez.
The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the Vitas Hospice Team #457.
Survivors: Children, Jesse Chairez, Vincent Chairez Jr., Mary Chairez, Raymond Chairez, Dora Cervantez and husband, Lico, Stella Cruz and husband, Antonio, and Sylvia VanVoorhis and husband, Gary; longtime friend and brother, Salvador Calderon; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
