Professional football player. Playing at guard or end, he was a member of the famous football-playing Nesser brothers. He began his playing career with the Columbus Panhandlers of the loosely-associated Ohio League in 1910. The Panhandlers squad included Al and five of his older brothers. He also played for the Canton Professionals. By 1920, Nesser joined the Akron Pros for the inaugural season of the American Professional Football Association (later renamed the National Football League). He helped the Pros to the league's first championship that year and was named first-team All-Pro in 1921 and second-team All-Pro in 1922. Nesser remained with Akron until 1925 when he joined the Cleveland Bulldogs during the season. He returned to Akron for three games in 1926 before joining the New York Giants. He played in 13 games for New York in 1927 when the team won the NFL championship. Nesser returned to the league in 1931 with the Cleveland Indians. He was named to the Helms Athletic Foundation Hall of Fame in 1952 and the Summit County Sports Hall of Fame in its inaugural class of 1957.
