Rufus R. Swope, 95, of Loysburg, Pennsylvania; passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Pennknoll Village.

He was born on January 30, 1927 in Six Mile Run, Pennsylvania; a son of the late Chester L. and Cora Mae (Noel) Swope.

He was first united in marriage to Francis (Novell) Bunn; she preceded him in death on December 1, 2007, he later married Nancy Edith (Lundquist) Crawford-Swope; she preceded him in death on August 9, 2015.

He is survived by a son, Wendell, NC; a brother Harold Lee Swope Stone Mountain, GA.; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; special friends.

He was preceded in death by siblings Anna Mae Moseby, Hazel Hoover, Zura Swope, Clinton Swope; brother-in-law Jack Moseby and sister-in-law Doris Swope.

Mr. Swope served in the US Navy, serving as a Seaman First Class, where he was a deck supervisor from 1945-1946.

Rufus was a member of the Six Mile Run Church of God.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 12 noon until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be held privately at Evans Cemetery.
