A life-long resident of Adair county, Marvin V. "Tom" Moore, 88, of Gibbs, died in a Columbia hospital early Tuesday evening.
The son of John R. and Maggie Lee Moore, he was born in Gibbs on December 12, 1871. He married Jessie Gordon on October 18, 1893 and to this marriage one daughter was born.
Surviving are his wife; the daughter, Mrs. Charles (Erna) Anderson of 417 W. Elizabeth; one grandson, W. Marvin Sangster of 903 E. Patterson; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Bud Moore of Brashear and a foster son, Tommy Plant of Waterloo, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Moorewas a retired farmer, having farmed near Brashear until 14 years ago when he moved to Gibbs. He was a member of the old South Methodist church of Brashear.
Funeral services will be held in the Easley Funeral Home at Brashear Thursday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. Woodrow Matthews, pastor of the Free-Will Baptist church of Kirksville officiating. Burial will be in the Brashear cemetery.
Bearers will be Bill Christman, Mark McClanahan, Herry Llewlyn, Victor Thompson, Elmer Patterson and Gayle Platz.
