Aaron Lugene Christofferson, 63, of Yale, Iowa peacefully left our world at 12:02 pm, January 15, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family, just as he envisioned his final moments.

Aaron was a highly skilled carpenter for more than 40 years, working in Guthrie County and the surrounding areas with his partner, Chris Reynolds, and their business R&C Construction. Together they made dreams come true building homes and other structures from the ground up for their customers to create their own family memories.

Aaron fought a long, courageous battle with Stage IV colon cancer for 7.5 years. Despite his initial prognosis of a less than 5% chance of living 5 years, he beat the odds with his stubborn will. Aaron was tough as nails and his love for his grandchildren kept him battling to see them grow. He held on long enough to meet his newest granddaughter just two days before his passing. True to his generous and loyal spirit, he was selfless until the end. He never complained during his cancer journey and always thought of others first, even when he was in pain. Anybody who knows him recognizes that despite his stoic presence, he was truly tender at heart.

As a boy, Aaron grew up on his family's farm in Elk Horn, Iowa where he helped milk cows, rode motorcycles, and enjoyed getting coffee with his father. As an adult, Aaron's passions outside of his family included socializing with his friends, camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, riding side-by-sides, throwing horseshoes and hiking 14ers in Colorado. He prided himself on preparing smoked brisket, pulled pork, and beans for everyone on the smoker that he fabricated himself. He was a staple in the community of Guthrie County and loved by all. If you were close to Aaron, please know that he loved you, even if he did not say it aloud or if he gave you the "dumb end" of the tape measure.

Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Darlene Christofferson, and grandparents, Harold and Florence Sheeder. He is survived by his greatest joys, daughter Jamie (Mike) Moellers, son Jeremy (Elizabeth) Christofferson, daughter Stacie Schneider, daughter Shay (Levi) Derry, his 5 grandchildren (Madilyn, Marshall, Kane, Kora, and Isla), and his brother Brent (Joann), niece (Bailey) and nephew (Logan), along with other extended family. Ultimately, his final project was putting the finishing touches on a job well-done, a family that will build on the foundation he left behind. His friends and family will miss him dearly.

Aaron wished to be cremated and have a celebration of life, which will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Guthrie Center Activity Center, 209 State St, Guthrie Center, IA 50115. Lunch and beverages will be provided.
