Harold F. Ruff, 100, Quincy, formerly of Nauvoo, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

He was born on May 15, 1901, in Nauvoo, a son of John Marcus and Lydia M. Horton Ruff.

He is survived by three nieces, Lydia Jo (Raymond) Boston of Burnside, Lois (Charles) Smith of Russiaville, Ind., and Joann (Ray) Wozniak of East Peoria; four nephews, Russell (Mary) Huntley of Wilmette, Willis (Lee) Ruff of Westgate, Iowa, Emmerson (LaWanda) Ruff of Avon, and Tedd (Lois) Ruff of Avon. A special friend Joe Dacovich of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Malinda Huntley, Mary Hamsher, Norene Alderfer; two brothers, Brooks and Willis Ruff.

He was of the Methodist faith and had attended the Methodist Church in Nauvoo during his youth. He was a former member of the Quincy American Legion. He worked at Electric Wheel in Quincy and then at Emerson Electric in St. Louis, Mo., from 1943 until his retirement in 1969.

Friends may call the Lamporte Funeral Home in Nauvoo after 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, where the family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening and from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 25 in the Lamporte Funeral Home in Nauvoo, with Rev. Don Riley Officiating. Burial will be in the Nauvoo City Cemetery.

Memorial in the name of Harold F. Ruff have been established for the Parkinsons Disease Foundation.
